Yes. It's me. Derek Ensinger.
I've been writing for some time now. But you know how that goes. Sometimes it takes a while to get comfortable opening up and letting folks read what you've written. So this is my coming out party. All the art/pictures on the website have been created/taken by myself, and I've added some links to my favorite music below. Artists and lyrics that have inspired me and helped me to develop my own artistic identity. You will also find a few of my own tunes as well an embarassing (but honest) video from my "Quarter Century" birthday concert. I also encourage you to fire up the forums!

Inspiration
"Familiars" by The Antlers is my hands-down favorite album right now. Follow this song to YouTube and listen to all 9 songs from the album (The band has posted them all).

Since I referenced it (and since I'm now willing to offer a laugh at my own expense), here is the opening song from my 25th birthday concert. Oh. It's awkward. I know...

If you've ever spent time with me and we've talked music, then you know it doesn't take long before I reference NPR Tiny Desk Concerts. If you are still out of the loop (for shame), here are some of my favorite performances . Life goal: Play one.
One of the first songs I wrote, back in 2011.
Foreshadowing my next big project... |
A little inspiration perhaps? This is the only
poem from this project that I've turned into a song (7/1/2014). Sorry it's a little rough... |
